Robert Lee Hicks
Robert has been drawing all of his life and paints to celebrate his Geechee heritage.  He has developed arthritis in his fingertips from pulling sections of bedsheets (his “canvases”) over handmade stretchers, but the urge to paint is stronger than the fleeting discomfort.

He’s a very quiet man, focused at all times.  This comes from being a Marine for nine years, and now a soldier deployed overseas.  Even without speaking, Robert is heard very loudly.  By studying his paintings, a collector understands a very strong, simple man who, through his brush, speaks and makes a stand.

Robert’s roots are deep in the sand of the Georgia Coast.  Since his ancestors were brought to what is now the Golden Isles even before Georgia was a state, his family has lived, worked and praised the Lord.  He has two daughters, and his mother, Elder JoAnn Ross, is the lead singer for the Darien Shouters.- – - – - – - – - -
